We take on the challenge of new business fields through the implementation of CSV management, thereby contributing to solving various social issues and creating new value with every stakeholder.

“Construction” business which is our main business

MAEDA has continuously implemented CSV management since 2016, aiming for an “integrated infrastructure service company” and has made efforts to become a company trusted by all our stakeholders by maintaining sustained growth, establishing a stable and highly profitable structure, and solving global social issues. This is a business model that provides new added value by integrating “engineering capability” that we have developed through the “construction” business and “new construction services” that we have enhanced through the “de-construction” business.
Aiming to realize the vision to become a company that can solve many social issues associated with individual infrastructure in a comprehensive way, we have been taking on the challenge of solving such issues associated with infrastructure as the core by expanding and enhancing the business field from the upstream businesses such as business investment and development to the downstream businesses such as operation and maintenance. For this challenge, the “construction” business which is MAEDA's main business and strength is an essential axis.

Strengthening of the “construction” business is acceleration of the “de-construction” business.

To strengthen the “construction” business which is a strength of MAEDA is not just to perform projects. We need to always look into social issues from the CSV viewpoint and have a mindset and actions to pursue both solutions to those issues and business. By changing our actions with such a CSV mindset, we will expand the business field and take on the challenge of entering new business fields without being bound by conventional roles and rules, thereby strengthening our engineering capabilities.

Challenge to new fields

To enhance the power of the “construction” business as an axis, MAEDA took on the challenge of entering a business field in which we had no previous experience. That is the construction project of Japan's and Asia's first private driving course (which was completed in 2023.) This is also a project of the INFRONEER Group that was realized by combining MAEDA's engineering capabilities of civil engineering and construction, MAEDA ROAD's pavement technology, and MAEDA SEISAKUSHO's construction machinery development capabilities.

Asia's first project

In this project, a full-scale driving course and six buildings were constructed in a large development area of about 400,000 m2 located in a mountainous district of Minamiboso City, Chiba Prefecture, where loquats are actively cultivated.
The full-scale driving course on which high-performance sports cars run has a high level of safety and there are also accommodation facilities which are themed on a European luxurious driving club. The main building is a two-story club house, in which there is a pool, an open-air bath, a restaurant, and a space for family such as the family lounge. Not only members, but also the people who accompany them can have a good time in the club house.

Difficulty with the construction

The construction site of the club house which is a main building was a mountain top with solid bedrock, and we started with the ground leveling work by cutting earth repeatedly. The land form changed each time some of the 1,500,000 m3 of soil was moved, and even just the securement of the traffic line was very difficult work.
In addition, usually, a building site is first prepared by civil engineering work and then building works are conducted. In this project, we needed to simultaneously conduct civil engineering work, building works, and construction of the driving course due to scheduling conflicts. Especially, we had to conduct the carrying-in and transportation of construction materials while cutting the earth of the mountain. Therefore, we conducted the works carefully while closely sharing the information about details and traffic lines for individual works and taking thorough safety measures. To construct the road, we needed to cut “mudstone,” which is slippery when wet. Therefore, we took measures against rock fall and the fall of material transport vehicles and made efforts to create an environment where workers can walk and work safely.

Environmental friendliness at the site

The site of this project is located at a place full of nature in a mountainous area. Therefore, it was very important to give consideration to the ecosystem and environment of the area when implementing the construction.
We first conducted a survey on rare animals and plants to understand the ecosystem of the area and then set a biotope in the same site and replanted plants within the site. We selected an environment (soil properties, insolation conditions, etc.) similar to the original environment so that effects on the ecosystem can be reduced to a minimum.

We also made efforts to give consideration to the environment by effectively using the 1,500,000 m3 of excavated earth generated by the civil engineering work within the site instead of carrying out of the site, to reduce CO2 which is generated in the carrying-out work and eliminate the noise of transport vehicles.

Exercising the coordination capability of the INFRONEER group

In this project, before the start of the construction, the three companies, MAEDA CORP., MAEDA ROAD, and MAEDA SEISAKUSHO actively exchanged information and opinions, and after the start of the construction as well, the three companies promoted the efficiency while sharing the information about the progress of works and three-dimensional data of the execution using ICT and realized the high-accuracy execution of works.
This project exactly demonstrated that we could exercise our capabilities even in a difficult environment by the relationship of trust and the coordination capability among MAEDA CORP., MAEDA ROAD, and MAEDA SEISAKUSHO as well as the combination of reliable technologies that each company has developed.

We think that this coordination capability is one of the capabilities that only the INFRONEER Group has. The INFRONEER Group has a common guidepost (action guidelines), “INFRONEER Caret”, and we, the companies sharing these guidelines, could further strengthen RESPECT and mutual concessions and aid which seem to be taken for granted.

Regional revitalization and challenge of new project

This project started with a project publicly sought by Minamiboso City. At first, we proposed a golf course, but receiving a proposal from the City, we aimed at returning the flow of people to this region located about 100 km from the urban central area.
Asia's first driving course was completed and we take pride in having played a part in the promotion of regional revitalization.
In addition, our coordination capability exercised in this project has been highly evaluated and we plan to join a new project that will lead to the development of Minamiboso City.

Toward the “integrated infrastructure service company” that provides added value

The vision that MAEDA aims for with CSV management is to become an “integrated infrastructure service company” that solves many social issues in a comprehensive way. The Minamiboso City private driving course project that we worked on is one of the projects that expanded the business fields of MAEDA. With this experience, our company could obtain knowledge and technologies in new fields. With this construction project as a beginning, we will strengthen (increase) connections (synergies) in the Group and provide added value to the region and society toward the production of significant results.
